Destination: MN

"Ground control to Major Tom, Commencing countdown, engines on..
Here am I sitting in my tin can, high above the world.."- David Bowie, "Space Oddity"

The take-off went well for Sweeti. She fell asleep and remained so the early part of the flight. She shared mama's meal of chicken and potatoes. She has played quite a bit, smiled and laughed and some occasional tears. She lets us know when things aren't as she would like. While Shawn took her and changed her, she was not happy to be held by him.

Shawn watched an excellent independent film from Japan with English subtitles, called "Gachi Boy: Wrestling With Memory." It is about a gifted law student, with a promising future as lawyer, who has a brain injury as a result of an accident and loses his short term memory, ala "50 First Dates." Every day he has to write down what happened and the next day read his journal to tell himself about his life. His condition is much more believable than in "50 First Dates." His life depresses him until he joins a pro wrestling club at college and trains with them and wins some matches. The movie was so touching that I actually cried, as it also showed well his father and sister trying to deal with his choice to wrestle and his "no quit" spirt, even while absorbing tremendous physical punishment in the ring. The first part is filled with hilarious puns, such as "You better all eat your lunch, so you get your fight-amins." The last part is more serious and moving.

As I wrote this, the girls are asleep, Sweeti on the floor in front of our seats (by choice) and Amy leaned over on her meal tray.

How wonderful it will be to get home and have Solveig and Jonah meet Sweeti!
